Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph have reunited for Drishyam 3. Recently, Lalettan announced that the shoot for the third instalment will start in October 2025. Earlier, reports suggested that Ajay Devgn will also commence shooting for the Hindi version of Drishyam 3 in October. In an interview, Jeethu revealed that the makers of Ajay starrer have stepped back from shooting the film early, as they faced "legal complications."
"People from Bollywood have indeed approached me for the Hindi rights and adaptation. They’re waiting for the script to be ready. There was even a proposal to shoot both the Hindi and Malayalam versions simultaneously, but no firm decisions have been made yet. Initially, there were efforts to begin with the Hindi version, but they faced potential legal complications, so they had to step back," he said.
At a recent event, he had said, "I finished writing the climax of Drishyam 3 last night. I’ve been under immense pressure for a long time."
Apart from Drishyam 3, the filmmaker also has two other projects: Mirage and Valathu Vashathe Kallan.
Jeethu Joseph on Drishyam 3
Earlier, in an interview with Times of India, Joseph refuted the rumours of Ajay Devgn-starrer Drishyam 3 having a different storyline.
"There have been reports that the Hindi version will have a different story, but that's not true. The Hindi film will also be based on my story," he had said.
He also revealed that there is a plan to release Drishyam 3, not just in Malayalam and Hindi languages, but also in Telugu version, at the same time.
Joseph said, "There was a request from their side for a simultaneous release. So, we have been discussing the prospect of releasing the films simultaneously... In this OTT age, they feel that releasing on different dates might reduce the film's impact in the other languages."
Mohanlal starrer Drishyam was released in 2013, followed by the second instalment in 2021. Ajay Devgn, and Tabu starred in the Hindi versions of both the instalments.
