Indian Premier League 2025
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) claimed their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy and became the new champions after defeating Punjab Kings by six runs in the final. Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings finished as runner-ups and will have to try their best to claim their first IPL title next season. The 2025 season began on March 22 and was expected to conclude on May 25.
However, tensions between India and Pakistan led to the IPL being suspended for over a week, resulting in a rescheduling of matches. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders finished their campaign in eighth place with 12 points, while the Mumbai Indians finished at the third place after a thrilling campaign. In a historic turn, MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings finished at the bottom of the table for the first time in IPL history. The Gujarat Titans had a strong run but ultimately failed to win the Eliminator. However, Sai Sudharsan (757 runs) bagged the Orange cap, and his GT teammate, Prasidh Krishna (25 wickets) claimed the Purple cap.
