Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph are back with the third instalment of Drishyam franchise. On Saturday, Mohanlal announced that Drishyam 3 shoot will start in October 2025. Interestingly, Ajay Devgn will also reportedly commence shooting for the Hindi version of Drishyam 3 in October, 2025.
Director Jeethu Joseph on Drishyam 3
Jeethu Joseph, the writer and director of the trilogy, in an interview with Times of India, shared some interesting details about the upcoming film. He revealed the script of the third instalment is nearing completion and also refuted the rumours of Ajay Devgn-starrer Drishyam 3 Hindi version will have a different storyline.
"There have been reports that the Hindi version will have a different story, but that's not true. The Hindi film will also be based on my story," he said.
The filmmaker also said that once he completes his script, it will be shared with the Hindi team, and they will then "adapt it to suit their setting and make suitable cultural changes."
When he was asked if both the films would be shot simultaneously, Joseph said, "That's not something we can confirm now. The dates of the lead actors may not work out that way."
The Malayalam and Hindi versions of the crime thriller may not be shot together, but Joseph revealed that there is a plan to release Drishyam 3, not just in Malayalam and Hindi languages, but also in Telugu version, at the same time.
"There was a request from their side for a simultaneous release. So, we have been discussing the prospect of releasing the films simultaneously... In this OTT age, they feel that releasing on different dates might reduce the film's impact in the other languages," he added.
Mohanlal announces Drishyam 3 shoot
On Saturday, Mohanlal shared a video with a close-up shot of his character Georgekutty and then, he is seen shaking hands with Joseph and producer Anthony Perumbavoor.
"October 2025 - the camera turns back to Georgekutty. The past never stays silent. #Drishyam3," he captioned the post.
Drishyam is one of the most successful movies of the Malayalam industry. Apart from Hindi, it was remade in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Sinhalese and even Chinese. Mohanlal starrer Drishyam was released in 2013, while the second instalment came in 2021. Ajay Devgn, and Tabu starred in the Hindi versions of both the instalments.
