Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s much-anticipated open bus parade to celebrate their maiden IPL title has been cancelled due to severe traffic congestion in the city, as per Bengaluru Traffic Police. The franchise had initially planned a grand procession from Vidhana Soudha to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, but revised their plans to ensure public safety and ease traffic flow in the Central Business District (CBD) area.
Instead, the RCB squad will be felicitated at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium between 5 PM and 6 PM IST. The players will first meet Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Vidhana Soudha before heading directly to the stadium. Entry to the felicitation ceremony will be restricted to those holding valid tickets or passes.
Authorities have advised fans and attendees to avoid the CBD area from 3 PM to 8 PM due to anticipated congestion. With limited parking available near the stadium, the public has also been urged to use the Metro and other modes of public transport.
RCB’s historic title win on Tuesday in Ahmedabad ended a 17-year-long wait for their first IPL trophy. The team edged past Punjab Kings by six runs in a thrilling final, thanks largely to Krunal Pandya’s exceptional 2/17 spell and a complete team effort.
The moment was particularly emotional for Virat Kohli, who has been part of the RCB setup since 2008. The legendary batter finally lifted the IPL trophy and finished as the third-highest run-scorer this season with 657 runs from 15 matches.
While fans will miss the spectacle of an open bus parade, the revised felicitation ceremony is expected to be a fitting tribute to the team's unforgettable triumph.
