As the new week kicks in, a mix of exciting web series and films are set to release across various platforms. From action, thrillers, to comedy, this week promises something for everyone. Also, there are some really exciting theatrical releases. From Jurassic World: Rebirth, Metro...In Dino, to Heads Of State, and Kaalidhar Laapata, the first week of July has different kinds of theatrical and OTT releases.
Here's the list of new releases in theatres near you and OTT platforms from June 30 to July 6, 2025.
Top OTT releases this week
Heads of State – July 2 (Prime Video)
Heads of State stars Priyanka Chopra, Idris Elba and John Cena, in key roles. Directed by Ilya Naishuller, it will be available to stream in six languages - English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The action comedy will see Cena playing U.S. President Will Derringer and Elba is seen in the role of the UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke. Priyanka Chopra plays MI6 agent Noel Bisset, who will be seen doing some high-octane action stunts.
Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid and Sarah Niles, among others, are also part of the cast.

The Old Guard Season 2 (July 2) - Netflix
It's a sequel to the 2020 film, The Old Guard 2. The story revolves around immortal warrior Andy (played by Charlize Theron) who confronts both her old rivalries and new threats. It also stars Uma Thurman, Henry Golding, Matthias Schoenaerts, Veronica Ngô, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
The Sandman Season 2 (July 3) - Netflix
The Sandman season 2 will premiere in two volumes—Volume 1, which will be out on July 3 and Volume 2 on July 24, with a bonus episode on July 3. Season 2 will see Lord Morpheus — the King of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), fighting for his own survival, and also the survival of The Dreaming. He "must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds," as per the official logline. "To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters, and mortals. But the path to forgiveness is full of unexpected twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything."
Thug Life – July 3 (Netflix)
Mani Ratnam-directed Thug Life which tanked at the box office, follows the story of Sakthivel (played by Kamal Haasan) and his brother Manickam (played by Nassar) who rescue a young boy and adopt him. They name him Amaran, (played by Silambarasan TR). The twist in the story comes when someone tries to assassinate Sakthivel, which leads him to suspect Amaran and Manickam.
Sakthivel now wants to take revenge against Amaran and Manickam for betraying him.
Kaalidhar Laapata (July 4) - Netflix
Kaalidhar Laapata, which stars Abhishek Bachchan in the titular role is an emotional journey of a middle-aged man, who struggles with memory loss, abandonment and betrayals. He then meets Ballu, an eight-year-old orphan who is a happy-go-lucky person, leading a carefree life. Ballu helps Kaalidhar live his long-forgotten dreams and together they embark on an adventurous journey.
The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case (July 4) - Sony LIV
Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the gripping series stars Amit Sial, Sahil Vaid, Bagavathi Perumal, Danish Iqbal, Girish Sharma, Vidyut Gargi, and Shafeeq Mustafa, among others in significant roles. It is based on the bestselling book Ninety Days by investigative journalist Anirudhya Mitra.
Good Wife – July 4 (JioHotstar)
Good Wife is a Tamil courtroom drama, starring Priyamani in the lead role. It has been directed by Revathy. The series shows a woman's return to her legal career after her husband (Sampath Raj) is taken into custody after been embroiled in a sex scandal.
Uppu Kappurambu (July 4) - Prime Video
Starring Keerthy Suresh and Suhas, Uppu Kappurambu is a satire comedy, set in a fictional South Indian village grappling with increased pressure on its burial infrastructure. The Telugu film is directed by Ani. I.V. Sasi, and also stars Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari.
Theatrical releases this week
Metro...In Dino - July 4
Directed by Anurag Basu, the romantic drama is a spiritual sequel to Basu’s 2007 film Life in a… Metro. It stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma and Neena Gupta, who navigate through the complexities of love and commitment.
Jurassic World: Rebirth - July 4
The official synopsis of the film reads: "Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind."
Jurassic World Rebirth has been directed by Gareth Edwards, and stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali in key roles.
Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcio-Rulfo, David Iacono, Philippine Velge, Audrina Miranda, Luna Blaise, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein are also part of the fourth film of the franchise.
Akshardham: Operation Vajra Shakti - July 4
The high-octane drama, inspired by real events, is directed by Ken Ghosh. It is based on the 2002 Akshardham Temple attack. Akshardham: Operation Vajra Shakti stars Akshaye Khanna as NSG officer Major Hanut Singh.
