Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will transfer Rs.150 crore with a single click under the Sambal Yojana in 6,821 cases of ex-gratia assistance. The event will take place on Friday at Bargi in Jabalpur. Labour, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, other ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local public representatives from across the state will participate in the programme.

The Sambal Yojana is a vital welfare scheme for millions of workers in the unorganized sector in Madhya Pradesh. Since its inception, over 1.76 crore workers have been registered under the scheme, and the registration process is ongoing.

Under the scheme—Rs. 4 lakh is provided in case of accidental death, and Rs. 2 lakh in case of natural death. Rs. 2 lakh is given for permanent disability, and ₹1 lakh for partial permanent disability. Rs. 5,000 is granted for funeral expenses. Additionally, Women workers receive Rs.16,000 as maternity assistance. The state government covers the full tuition fees for workers’ children pursuing higher education under the Higher Education Incentive Scheme.

Following the initiative of NITI Aayog, gig and platform workers in the state have also been included under the Sambal Scheme and are receiving all associated benefits. Beneficiaries also receive a ration eligibility slip, allowing them to access subsidized food grains provided by both the central and state governments.

The Sambal Yojana stands as a lifeline for unorganized sector workers, offering financial support from birth to death. It is truly a ‘sambal’ (support) for labourers, and the credit for implementing this model welfare scheme goes to the state government. It serves as an exemplary model for other states in the country.

Moreover, several schemes are being run for registered construction workers through the Construction Workers Welfare Board. These include ex-gratia assistance in case of death and support in cases of permanent or partial disability.

All Sambal beneficiaries are also enrolled under the Ayushman Bharat - Niramay Yojana, enabling them to avail free annual medical treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh.
