An Indian woman was caught stealing at Target during her vacation in the US. In a viral video released by an independent YouTube channel named @BodyCamEdition, the tourist was caught trying to shoplift items worth $ 1,300 or approximately 1.1 lakhs in Indian currency.

In the video, the woman can be seen pleading with the cops to let her pay for the products she allegedly stole upon being caught, but to no avail. She has now been detained in Illinois.

Shortly after, the video went viral surfacing all over social media. The US embassy issued a notice wherein releasing a new advisory for US visa applicants. Moreover, in a post on X, the embassy warned visa holders against indulging in assault, burglary, or theft while in the States.

"The United States values law and order and expects foreign visitors to follow all US laws," the embassy stated.

Additionally, "Committing assault, theft, or burglary in the United States could lead to your visa being revoked and make you ineligible for future US visas," read the advisory.

The most recent cautionary note comes amid a sequence of restrictions enforced on US visa applications. The previous month, a warning was issued by the embassy concerning illegal entry into the US after an Indian student was detained at an airport and deported.

Furthermore, the federal government has called for strict social media inspection for all US visa applicants, in light of which, from now on, the embassy has cancelled all visa interviews and will be exchanging them with a scanning of an applicant’s social media accounts instead.
