United States President Donald Trump is meeting with his national security team in the Situation Room, according to a White House official quoted by CNN.
It comes as the president weighs if the US should get further involved with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. He left the Group of 7 summit in Canada a day early yesterday to return to Washington.
A few hours back, Trump said that the US knows where Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is hiding but doesn’t want him killed for now.
He urged, in a social media posting on Tuesday, Iran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” as the five-day Israel-Iran conflict continues to escalate.
"We know exactly where the so-called “Supreme Leader” is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there - We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!," Trump posted on Truth Social.
Egypt Calls Ceasefire
Amidst this, Egypt has called for de-escalation between Israel and Iran, warning the conflict could trigger regional upheaval.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called for an “immediate ceasefire” during separate phone calls with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, and the US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, according to an official statement.
During the conversations, Abdelatty pushed for “a return to negotiations” on Iran’s nuclear programme, which he said would be “the only path to a sustainable agreement”, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement.
Meanwhile, at least 2,725 people in Israel have been evacuated from their homes since the latest conflict with Iran began last week, according to Israel’s Government Press Office (GPO).
As of Tuesday, the death toll in Israel remains at 24, but more than 647 people are injured, with at least 10 in serious condition, the government said.
Earlier on June 18, Iranian strikes allegedly struck strategic sites within Israel, including the Mossad headquarters in Tel Aviv and the military intelligence complex or AMAN in Glilot, several reports have claimed.
Visuals on social media, which cannot be confirmed by 카지노, show buildings engulfed in flames. "This morning, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)'s aerospace forces carried out a strike on the center of military intelligence of the Zionist regime's (Israel's - TASS) army, Aman, and the Zionist regime's center for planning terrorist operations, Mossad, in Tel Aviv, despite Israel's advanced defense systems, and this center is now on fire," the Tasnim news agency quoted an IRGC statement.
More than 700 foreigners living in Iran have crossed into neighbouring Azerbaijan and Armenia since Israel began striking the country last week, government officials in Baku and Yerevan said Tuesday (June 17, 2025).
The Caucasus countries border Iran’s northwest, with the closest crossing into Azerbaijan around 500 kilometres (310 miles) from Tehran by road.
“Since the start of the military escalation between Israel and Iran, more than 600 citizens of 17 countries have been evacuated from Iran via Azerbaijan,” a government source told AFP on Tuesday (June 17, 2025).
