The Israeli military ordered Palestinians to evacuate parts of northern Gaza on Sunday ahead of intensive military action in the region, as United States President Donald Trump pushed for a ceasefire deal, reported Reuters. As military operations "intensify and expand westward,” all the residents in neighbourhoods across Gaza City and Jabalia have been told to move south towards the coastal area of al-Mawasi.

"The (Israeli) Defense Forces is operating with extreme force in these areas, and these military operations will escalate, intensify, and extend westward to the city center to destroy the capabilities of terrorist organizations," the military said.

According to the Gaza Health ministry, at least 86 people were killed as the result of Israeli attacks between Saturday and Sunday. Trump released a statement on his Truth Social platform stating that, "Make the deal in Gaza, get the hostages back.”

Medics and residents have claimed that Israeli attacks intensified in the Jabalia area on Sunday, destroying multiple houses and killing at least six people, reported Reuters. The increased war effort comes amid talks of a possible ceasefire and release of Israeli hostages by Hamas.

Trump had earlier claimed that a possible ceasefire in Gaza, involving Israel and Hamas could be reached within a week. “We think within the next week, we’re going to get a ceasefire, and we’re supplying, as you know, a lot of money and a lot of food to that area,” Trump said.

Netanyahu had earlier claimed that the outcome of Israel's war with Iran presented opportunities for peace that his country must not waste. "This victory presents an opportunity for a dramatic widening of peace agreements. We are working on this with enthusiasm," Netanyahu said in a statement.
