On June 27, two major Indian films - Vishnu Manchu's mythological epic drama Kannappa, and Kajol's mythological horror film Maa, locked horns at the box office. Both earned in single digit on the first day of the release. However, Kannappa has left behind Maa in three days.

Kannapaa box office collection day 3

The Mukesh Kumar Singh directorial gave Vishnu Manchu his career-best opening weekend. As per a report in Sacnilk, Kannappa collected Rs 7.25 crore nett in India on its first Sunday, taking the three-day collections to Rs 23.75 crore. The film earned Rs 9.35 crore on its opening day and saw a dip in its earnings on Day 2, as it collected Rs 7.15 crore.

It had an overall 39.93% Telugu occupancy on Sunday, June 29, with highest occupancy of 50.75% during the evening shows, and lowest occupancy of 25.08% during the morning shows. Afternoon and night shows witnessed footfall of 51.16% and 32.72%, respectively.

Kannappa cast

Vishnu Manchu played the titular character in the film, while Prabhas, Akshay Kumar and Mohanlal had special appearances. Kajal Aggarwal, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Mohan Babu, Arpit Ranka, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Mukesh Rishi, Raghu Babu, Siva Balaji, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, and Preity Mukhundhan among others, are also part of the cast.

It has been produced by Vishnu’s father, Mohan Babu’s 24 Frames Factory.

Maa box office collection day 3

Kajol-led film had a slow start on Friday but it witnessed an improvement over the weekend. It has earned Rs 17.40 crore in its three-day haul. On its first day, Maa collected Rs 4.65 crore, and saw a surge on Saturday with Rs 6 crore and minted Rs 6.75 crore on Sunday.

On Sunday, the Hindi occupancy was 31.17%. Evening shows witnessed highest occupancy of 46.68%, and morning shows recorded lowest 10.71% occupancy. Afternoon and night shows had footfall of 35.57% and 31.71%, respectively.

Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa also starred Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, and Kherin Sharma. It is backed by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Subbarayan.
