WNBA: Indiana Fever Superstar Caitlin Clark To Miss All-Star Weekend Due To Groin Injury

Clark never missed a game last season while earning WNBA Rookie of the Year honours, but various injuries have already sidelined her for 11 contests this season - including the Commissioner's Cup final

Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever sits on the bench after injuring her groin in a win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, July 15.

Caitlin Clark will not participate in the WNBA's All-Star weekend.

An injured right groin forced the Indiana Fever superstar guard to pull out of Friday's 3-point contest and Sunday's All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse - the home of the Fever.

Clark, who was the leading vote-getter by the fans, is a captain for one of the All-Star teams.

"I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game," Clark said in a message posted by the Fever. "I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action, and I'm looking forward to helping (Liberty coach Sandy Brondello) coach our team to a win."

Clark appeared to hurt her groin in the final minute of Tuesday's 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun when she walked back downcourt holding the injured area after assisting on the Fever's final basket.

She then sat out Wednesday's 98-77 loss to the New York Liberty.

Clark never missed a game last season while earning WNBA Rookie of the Year honours, but various injuries have already sidelined her for 11 contests this season - including the Commissioner's Cup final.

A left groin injury sustained after a win over the Seattle Storm on June 24 forced her to miss Indiana's next four games. Tuesday's victory was her fourth game back.

In 13 games this season, Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds.
