Tommy Fleetwood is thrilled at the way he has "bounced back" from his U.S. Open disappointment, after taking a share of the lead at the Travelers Championship.
The Englishman is tied with world number one Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas at the top of the leaderboard on nine-under-par, after a strong finish to day two in Connecticut.
Fleetwood carded a second-round 65 at TPC River Highlands, aided by back-to-back eagles during the final six holes.
It has been an ideal response from the 34-year-old, who missed his first cut of an otherwise consistent campaign at last week's U.S. Open.
"I've been having a good season, and I felt like my game was in a really good place going into the U.S. Open last week," he told Sky Sports.
"For whatever reason – I'll never understand the game – I played really poorly, but in golf, there is always another week, and this week is a big week.
"I came out motivated to take whatever there is to learn to make you better for the coming weeks and, so far this week, I'm happy with how I bounced back."
Things could have gotten even better for Fleetwood, who had to settle for par on the final hole having played catch-up after sending his tee shot into a tree.
"I would have loved to have holed the putt," added the 34-year-old, who is targeting his first PGA title. "But I'd take four after that tee shot."
It was a poor day for Rory McIlroy, whose struggles continued as he dropped from two off the lead to four back, having carded a one-over par 71.
McIlroy made three bogeys across the opening four holes, before sinking three birdies to get back on track.
