India Test captain Shubman Gill has achieved a career-best ICC Test batting ranking, rising 15 places to No. 6 after his record-breaking performance in the second Test against England at Edgbaston.

Gill’s stunning knocks of 269 and 161 not only powered India to their first-ever Test win at the venue by a massive 336-run margin, but also helped him reach a career-high 807 rating points.

Highest Test-rating For Gill

Gill's double-century was the highest ever by an Indian batter in England and also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing record for the highest Test score by an Indian outside Asia. His total of 430 runs in the match is now the second-highest ever in a single Test, only behind Graham Gooch's 456.

The 25-year-old also became the third Indian captain to score centuries in both innings of a Test, joining Sunil Gavaskar and Virat Kohli.

Harry Brook: The No.1 Test Batter

The impact of the Edgbaston Test extended beyond Gill. England batter Harry Brook, who scored a crucial 158 in the first innings, rose to No. 1 in the ICC Test batting rankings, replacing teammate Joe Root. Brook is now 18 points clear of Root, who slipped to second place. England wicketkeeper Jamie Smith also climbed to No. 10, thanks to his unbeaten 184 and second-innings 88.

Elsewhere, South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder surged up the rankings after his unbeaten 367 against Zimbabwe. The allrounder jumped 34 places to No. 22 among Test batters and climbed to No. 3 in the allrounders’ rankings, behind leader Ravindra Jadeja.

Yashasvi Jaiswal remains on four, while Rishabh Pant has dropped one place to eight.

Kusal Mendis Goes Big In ODI Rankings

In ODI rankings, Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka saw big gains after their match-winning performances in a 2-1 series win over Bangladesh. Mendis moved into the top 10 after scoring 225 runs in the series, while Asalanka rose to No. 6 with vital knocks of 106 and 58.
