F1 movie was premiered in New York on Monday, June 16, night, with lead actor Brad Pitt, Lewis Hamilton, Damson Idris, and Kerry Condon in attendance. Apart from the actors, F1 drivers, and the production team were also present at the launch. At the event, Pitt revealed the most challenging part behind creating the film.

On stage at the event, Brad Pitt hailed the teams and the drivers, and everyone who opened their doors for them and said they are a big part of the film.

"[They] let us in in a way that I would never have expected. [It was] just an experience I will never forget," he added.

As per a report in Motorsport, Brad Pitt revealed the hardest part in F1 production was to develop a story. The 61-year-old actor added, "The sport is so revered and there’s so many people that are quite knowledgeable about it, and then there’s so many people who haven’t seen it yet."

The Fight Club star further said, "And to try to thread this needle where we’re not dumbing it down to those in the know, but it’s an invitation and explanation for those who have not been around this sport before, was really the most difficult thing of it all, and I think we did a pretty damn good job."

F1 movie release date

The film will hit theatres globally on June 25 and in North America on June 27.

It has been directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Pitt and seven-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton. The screenplay is written by Ehren Kruger.

Pitt is playing Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One driver, who is called to fill in after retirement, by his former teammate, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), to help the struggling APXGP team. Hayes is assigned to guide the team’s young rookie, Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).

The official synopsis of F1 reads: "The highly anticipated Formula 1® racing feature stars Pitt as a former driver who returns to Formula 1®, alongside Damson Idris as his teammate at APXGP, a fictional team on the grid. The feature has been shot during actual Grand Prix weekends as the team competes against the titans of the sport.''
