Tanvi The Great Trailer: Shubhangi Dutt Plays Anupam Kher's Autistic Granddaughter Who Dreams To Join Indian Army

Shubhangi Dutt, who plays an autistic girl in Tanvi The Great, fights all odds to join the Indian Army. The movie also stars Anupam Kher who plays her on-screen grandfather.

The trailer of Tanvi The Great, which marks actor Anupam Kher‘s directorial comeback has been unveiled today. The film, which is an inspiring journey of hope, determination, and resilience, marks the debut of Shubhangi Dutt, who is playing Tanvi, an autistic girl, who dreams to serve the Indian army, with the help of her grandfather (played by Kher).

The three-minute trailer shows Tanvi Raina’s heartwarming relationship with her grandfather Colonel Pratap Raina and mother Vidya (played by actor Pallavi Joshi). Tanvi goes on a trip to Lansdowne where she develops her interest to join the Indian Army. She lost her father, Samar Raina (played by Karan Tacker) when she was young. He died while serving in the army. Tanvi is motivated to join the army as she wants to honour the legacy of her late father.

Actor Arvind Swami trains Tanvi to become an Army officer. Towards the end of the trailer, she can be seen climbing Mount Everest, fighting all the odds. A group of soldiers can be seen hoisting the Indian flag at the peak, cheering for her.

Anupam Kher took to his Instagram handle to share the trailer with a caption, "In a world that saw her through a different lens, she kept shining with a light that could not be unseen. Her smile awakens hope, her heart builds courage, and her journey inspires us all. And now, she is here to meet you all. She is #TanviTheGreat. Trailer out now! Arriving in cinemas on 18th July(sic)".

After being screened at several film festivals across the globe, Tanvi The Great will release in theatres on July 18, 2025.

Tanvi The Great has been produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with the NFDC. It also stars Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Nasser and Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen. Oscar-winner MM Keeravani has composed the music of the film. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment and AA Films, led by Anil Thadani, are behind the global distribution of the film.

Tanvi The Great was also screened at Cannes this year. While talking about the film, Anupam Kher had said, "Everyone who watches Tanvi The Great will walk away a little kinder perhaps even changed. This film is my tribute to every person who is different but no less. It’s the story of an autistic, brilliant, and fiercely determined girl who dreams of joining the Indian Army. This is one of the most important films of my career, and I’m confident audiences in India will connect with it just as deeply as those around the world already have."
