Dakota Johnson, who is currently in the news for her new release, Materialists, thinks that Hollywood is a "bit of a mess" at the moment because studios remake "the same things."

As per a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the actress recently appeared on Hot Ones, where host Sean Evans asked her why she feels "Hollywood is so risk-averse," Johnson said, "I think it’s hard when creative decisions are made by committee and it’s hard when creative decisions are made by people who don’t even really watch movies or know anything about them, and that tends to be what’s occurring a lot."

The Fifty Shades of Grey actress also added, "When something does well, studios want to keep that going so they remake the same things" but people want to see fresh and experience new things. "I guess it’s all just a bit of a mess right now, isn’t it?," she added.

Coming back to Materialists, the film hit the theatres on June 13, 2025. Directed by Past Lives fame Celine Song, the film also stars Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal, alongside Dakota Johnson.

It also features Dasha Nekrasova, Sawyer Spielberg, Louisa Jacobson, Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Eddie Cahill, and Fernando Belo.

The romantic-comedy has opened to positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.

An excerpt from the 카지노 India review of the film read: "At its heart, Materialists digs into the messy equation love and money share in today's world. When do the two become inextricable? What's the difference economic access makes to a relationship? Beyond make and break, how is the act of loving and togetherness filtered through scraping together a bare livelihood? When there are no money worries, how fundamentally does a couple’s argument change?"
