Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra surprised a fan on Friday by offering him a full VVIP experience, including accommodation, for the upcoming Neeraj Chopra Classic, scheduled for July 5 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

Ranjith Kumar Ravichandran, a javelin enthusiast from Coimbatore, had responded to a tweet on social media, expressing his dream of attending the NC Classic in Bengaluru and requesting ₹2000 to help cover his expenses.

On June 25, he took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote: "If anyone sponsors me 2000 rupees, I can go to watch this from Coimbatore."

Moved by the post, Chopra stepped in, not just with the ₹2000, but by ensuring Ranjith would witness the event in the grandest way possible, with full VVIP access and stay arrangements.

Quoting Ranjith’s message on X, Chopra wrote, "Hi, Ranjith. You've got a full VVIP experience waiting for you in Bengaluru because your trip to the @nc_classic is on me! And thanks to @RadissonHotels, you'll be staying about 90 metres away from me. See you soon!"

Originally slated for May 24, the Neeraj Chopra Classic was postponed due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with organisers prioritising national sentiment and security concerns.

Now rescheduled for July 5 at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium, the event holds World Athletics Gold status and is set to be one of the marquee track-and-field meets on Indian soil.

The javelin competition will feature a powerhouse line-up, including Olympic medallists like Thomas Röhler, Anderson Peters, and India’s own Neeraj Chopra, promising a spectacle for fans and a significant moment for Indian athletics on the global stage.

Chopra is coming off a victory at the Ostrava Golden Spike 2025, where he secured the javelin throw title with a best effort of 85.29 metres. His winning mark went unbeaten through six rounds, sealing the gold with one throw still to go.

The triumph marked his third win of the season, following wins at the Paris Diamond League and another earlier in the year, underlining his strong form ahead of the Neeraj Chopra Classic.
