Chelsea are set to take on Brazilian giants Flamengo in a Group D clash of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on Friday, 20 June, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The upcoming fixture is a high-stakes one as it will decide which team tops the section and avoids a potential early knockout meeting with Bayern Munich.

Both sides began their CWC campaign with clinical 2-0 wins, with Flamengo seeing off Esperance de Tunis in their opening match. The Scarlet and Black, managed by former Chelsea left-back Filipe Luis, arrived in Philadelphia as the Brazilian league leaders and the Copa Libertadores 2022 champions.

Their match against ES Tunis saw goals from Giorgian de Arrascaeta and Luiz Araujo, with new signing Jorginho impressing with an assist. The win marked Luis’ 32nd victory in 46 games, with just three defeats. They also have four straight clean sheets and are unbeaten in nine games since an early May defeat to Cruzeiro.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are aiming to add to their medal tally after securing the Club World Cup title in 2021. The Blues entered the competition as the UEFA Conference League 2024-25 winners, having defeated Real Betis 4-1 in the final and securing a top-four finish in the English Premier League.

Enzo Maresca’s side carried that momentum and defeated LAFC in their opening game, with Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez scoring. This was the ninth win for Chelsea in their last 10 games, and they have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four outings.
