The Hindus in India are celebrating Holi on March 7-8. The two-day festival involves one day for ritualistic burning of Holika, the sister of Hiranyakashipu who was part of the plan to kill Vishnu-worshipper Prahlad, as per Hindu beliefs. Holika had a boon of being fire-resistant, so she sat in fire with Prahlad but the devotion to Vishnu saved Prahlad and burnt Holika. The day after Holika Dahan, the festival of colours is celebrated.
