Following a complaint about illegal construction work at Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat, a joint team of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and forest department officials arrived there, on Friday, to check if there are any coastal regulation zone violations, reported Times of India.
Shah Rukh Khan and his family moved out of their bungalow, due to the extensive renovation and expansion. As per reports, they have shifted to a lavish duplex apartments in Pali Hill, Mumbai, for three years.
When the officials met his staff, they assured that all the documents related to renovation permits would be submitted.
Pooja Dadlani, Shah Rukh Khan's manager, cleared the speculations around illegal activities. She told TOI, "There are no complaints. All work is going on as per guidelines."
For the unversed, Mannat is currently undergoing renovation and Shah Rukh obtained clearance from Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) since it is located in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ).
A forest department official said, "A team did carry out a site inspection as we received a complaint about renovation permissions. A report will be prepared based on the findings and submitted soon."
A BMC official said, "Our officials were accompanying the team, based on a request by the forest department. We had no other role."
For the unversed, Santosh Daundkar, a social activist, lodged a complaint with the BMC, questioning the construction at Mannat. He had earlier alleged that Shah Rukh violated rules in the past.
Former IPS officer and lawyer Y P Singh on Friday alleged that Mannat originally comprised a heritage building, Villa Vienna, and the name was later changed to Mannat. He said, "In 2005, an extension building of seven floors was made behind the heritage bungalow and since at that time Urban Land Ceiling Act was in force, a large apartment could not have been made. To overcome this legal hurdle, approval for 12 small independent flats was taken from the BMC by the owners namely Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan. However, once the approval was obtained all these 12 small flats, which were essentially meant for mass housing under the Urban Land Ceiling Act, were merged and a super luxury accommodation of a single family was constructed."
"Without the help and connivance of the municipal officers this would never have happened. Even though the Urban Land Ceiling Act is no longer in force, actions taken during the time when the Act was in force have been saved. Therefore, it is legally compulsory for the owners of Mannat to restore those 12 independent small flats immediately so that the objective of mass housing could be accomplished and the eminent principles of rule of law are upheld," he added.
Where are Shah Rukh and his family currently living?
Reportedly, SRK, with his wife Gauri and their kids- Aryan, Suhana and AbRam, are temporarily living at Puja Casa building in Pali Hill, Bandra, Mumbai. The property is owned by film producer Vashu Bhagnani.
