Spain ended Switzerland’s dreamy midsummer run through its home Women’s European Championship in a 2-0 win in the quarterfinals on Friday despite missing two penalty kicks. Athenea Del Castillo slotted in a shot from Aitana Bonmatí's flicked assist in the 66th, just four minutes after coming off the bench, and Clàudia Pina curled a shot from the edge of the penalty area in the 71st.

"There will be adversity, matches are very tough, there might be several goals. It’s a challenge to find balance between attacking a lot and not conceding goals.

"Sometimes you are in a situation of disbalance and crisis. At the Euros the level is very high. All teams are trying to score goals and produce great games."
