Russia launched its biggest ever drone attack on Ukraine involving 355 drones and nine cruise missiles between Sunday night and Monday morning. While addressing a press briefing, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserted that the attack was in response to Ukraine’s offensive against Russian civilian infrastructure. He said that, “President Putin is taking the decisions that are necessary to ensure the security of our country.”

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, 233 drones were destroyed whereas 55 were either jammed or disappeared.

The attacks came after United States President Donald Trump had called Putin ‘crazy’ following the massive strikes on Ukraine. “I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.
“I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!,” he added further.
The Kremlin has claimed that Trump is showing signs of “emotional overload”.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Russia is acting "out of a total sense of impunity”.
“Only a sense of total impunity can allow Russia to carry out such strikes and continue increasing their scale. The increase in Russian strikes should be met with increased sanctions,” he said.
The Russian Defence ministry has also claimed to tackle 110 Ukrainian drones overnight including 13 over Moscow.
